Curling for a Cause and a Cure for Lupus Nephritis
I had the recent honor of interviewing Regan Birr, a woman who, despite a lupus nephritis diagnosis after college, harnessed a mountain of motivation to protect her kidney health and seek a cure through curling. Curling? Yes, you read that right.
As a born and bred Canadian, Regan explains, curling is in her blood. It courses through her husband Todd’s blood too. In fact, he earned a bronze medal in the sport. So their passion for the game merged with Regan’s passion to find a cure for lupus nephritis and protect her kidney health. Lupus Spiel USA was born.
Their event has become the largest Professional-Amateur curling competition in the world and has elevated Regan’s advocacy for lupus awareness to a whole new level. To be inspired, read all about her amazing mission by clicking here.
